Flat Belly Diet is the title of a new book by Cynthia Sass and Liz Vacciariello.

Vacciariello and Sass are well known as the editors of Prevention magazine, which offers practical health, diet and fitness advice. Prevention Magazine has a readership of 11 million, so the authors credentials are impeccable.

As the title suggests, Flat Belly Diet specifically aims to reduce the fat on your belly. To tackle this problem the Flat Belly Diet utilizes the latest in scientific research which proves that Monounsaturated fatty acids help dieters to lose weight, particularly around their stomachs.

Monounsaturated fats (MUFA), commonly known as 'good fats' are found in foods such as avocados and nuts. It is also the main constituent of things such as olive oil and tea seed oil. Mediterranean cuisine is well known for using olive oil, whilst tea seed oil is an important part of a great deal of Asian cuisine. Monounsaturated fats are also found in lesser concentrations in foods such as oatmeal, which many people will instantly recognize as a healthy option.
